About Maguindanao del Sur
Maguindanao del Sur is one of the two provinces created from the division of the former Maguindanao province in 2022, covering the southern and eastern portions of the former province. Buluan serves as the provincial capital. The province gained international notoriety from the 2009 Maguindanao Massacre in Ampatuan municipality, one of the deadliest attacks on journalists in history, which resulted in prolonged legal proceedings.
