Typhoon Risk by Region

Luzon

How Typhoons Form
A tropical cyclone is a warm-core, low-pressure system with air spiraling inward near the surface and outward at higher altitude. These systems form exclusively over warm ocean water, where sea surface temperatures exceed roughly 26Β°C. As the ocean releases heat and moisture into the air, that moisture condenses into clouds, and the heat released in the process drives the storm's rotation.
The Philippines sits within the Western North Pacific basin, the most active tropical cyclone basin in the world.
