Ati-Atihan Festival

3rd Sunday of January · Kalibo, Aklan

An ancient tradition honoring the Infant Jesus, Senor Santo Nino, rooted in the customs of the Ati, the aboriginal natives of Western Visayas. Participants smear themselves with soot and dress in tribal finery with iconic tasseled headdresses, processing to the beat of drums and the chant of "Hala Bira!"
